The Cowichan Valley's School District 79 is planning to submit a deficit budget on June 30. This will go against the School Act bylaw where all boards are required to pass balanced budgets. Trustees voted 5-4 in favour of proposing a budget with a deficit of over $3.5 million for 2012/13. This is in response to BC's history of ongoing cuts and in resistance to Bill 22.
